Foreign transactions

Increasingly, UK residents are investing in property abroad, for investment, for an additional holiday home, or perhaps as a semi-retirement option.

Buying property abroad can be, but doesn’t have to be, fraught with difficulty from understanding not just the legalities of buying property, but on the foreign legislation and inheritance issues that may arise now or in the future.

It also pays to have someone who understands the legal system and represents your interests, appointed by you - rather than someone representing the seller or suggested by them. There have been some unfortunate ‘scams’.
